WHAT WE DO
ACTIVE PROGRAMS/PROJECTS
I. Cultural Integration: Programs for South Asian Seniors, Parents, and Youth to promote health and harmony.
a) HUM Group:
Monthly HUM event for seniors to socialize, share life experiences, have spiritual conversations, enjoy tasty food, and have FUN.
Date: Every 3rd Wednesday of the month.
Time: 11 am to 2 pm.
b) AshaUSA Mental Health Matters Events:
Programs to increase awareness and decrease stigma associated with mental Health.
c) South Asian Family Education:
Topics of interest for the South Asian families.
II. Research and Mentorship:
AshaUSA routinely collaborates with MDH, the University of Minnesota, and graduate/undergraduate students from different Universities to conduct research focused on addressing issues specific to the South Asian community living in Minnesota. Mentorship of High school, undergraduate, and graduate students in their research and community service projects
III. South Asian Cultural Education:
a) Presentations to community-at-large:
Presentations to educational institutions, healthcare providers, and government agencies.
b) Under the Banyan Tree (UBT) - Story Telling Project:
“Under the Banyan Tree” hopes to engage, educate, and build fellow Minnesotans’ understanding and perceptions of South Asian Americans who call Minnesota home.
